The
Department of Tourism (DOT) is the lead government agency charged
with the responsible development of tourism as major socio-economic
activity by formulating policies and implementing plans that
will accelerate sustainable development, and position the Philippines
both to domestic and foreign visitors as prime tourist destination.
In
fulfilling its mission, the Department is committed to adhere
to the national development goals to benefit the Filipino people
first and foremost through the increase in domestic and foreign
visitors, generation of foreign exchange receipts, creation of
employment opportunities, encouragement of private investments,
protection of the environment and preservation of the country's
heritage and culture.
As
mandated by Executive Order No. 120, the Department of Tourism
will encourage, promote and develop tourism as a major socio-economic
activity to generate foreign currency and employment, spread
the benefit of tourism to a wider segment of the population,
and assures the safe, convenient and enjoyable stay and travel
of both foreign and local tourist in the country.

Philippine Convention and Visitors Corporation (PCVC) is a non-stock,
non-profit government corporation attached to the Department
of Tourism, tasked with promoting the country as an ideal tourism,
convention and incentive destination. Its Conventions & Incentive
Travel Unit, in particular, provides comprehensive information,
technical assistance, and guidance to meeting planners and incentive
travel organizers who seek an ideal venue for their meetings
and incentive groups. |
