The Philippines is full of great trekking and mountaineering spots. Mountaineers flock the nation's highest peaks like Mount Pulag in the north, and Mount Apo, the country's highest peak, in the southern island of Mindanao. But there are other great hiking and trekking sites like the eerily beautiful Mount Pinatubo crater. Light treks can also be enjoyed in the outlying provinces of Metro Manila like Laguna, Batangas and Bulacan.



MT. PULAG CLIMB
Benguet, Northern Luzon
3 Days / 2 Nights
Best Time: March to May

Conquer Mt. Pulag and enjoy a scenic view of Benguet. Activities include camping at Babalok Station and trekking Mt. Pulag plateau at 3,000 meters. Temperature can go as low as 0 degree Celcius due to high winds at topside. Thermal jackets or windbreakers are needed for chill protection.

Tour includes two (2) nights tent accommodation, full-board meals, mountain guide and partner for common camping equipment.


MT. BANAHAW CLIMB
Quezon
3 Days / 2 Nights
Best Time: March to May

The grandest among the Southern Tagalog Mountain Rangers. Mt. Banahaw offers not only a challenge to climbers but also the added spice of legends and mysticism. Considered a sacred mountain by the locals. Mt. Banahaw is also home to numerous sects and cults.

A must-visit is the famous “Husagado” cave, considered to be a mystical cove which is so narrow and challenging that locals believe whoever passes through it undergoes a spiritual transformation. Tour includes roundtrip transfers, two (2) nights tent accommodation, full-board meals and mountain guide.


MT. ARAYAT TREK (A Legendary Climb)
Pampanga
Best Time: March to May

A prominent and formation in the Central Plains of Luzon is the majestic Mt. Arayat. Located at Brgy San Juan Bano, Arayat, Pampanga. It is a dominant volcano with an area of 3,715.28 hectares. At the foot of the jump-off point for the trek is the Arayat National Park.

It takes a 40-minute drive via the North Luzon Express up to San Fernando, followed by an additional 30-minute drive to Arayat National Park, jump off point. From the park, it is a 2-km trek up the Tree House, where huts and houses can be rented for conferences and meetings. The place has the best view of the mountain and the surrounding area.

Two trails lead to the peak of Mr. Arayat: Mt. Arayat National Park has a trail to Peak 1.. This is the more popular trail, taking around 3-4 hours to climb. Peak 1 offers views of Central Luzon, including the Pampanga River, the mountains of and (W), and the mountains of the Sierra Madre range (E), Peak 2 can be accessed from Magalang, Pampanga, taking a similar time to negotiate.

A climb to the peak is rewarded with a dip in 3 freshwater pools.

Tour includes private transportation to and from Manila, local trekking guide, unch, bottled water. Optional birwatching program in Candaba is possible.


MT. APO CLIMB
Davao City
4 Days / 3 Nights
Best Time: April to May

Conquer Mt. Apo, the tallest peak in the Philippines at 9,691 feet above sea level, the mightiest upward surge of a long mountain range extending from Cotabato, Davao del Sur and Davao City to Agusan and Misamis Oriental in Northern Mindanao. Along the way, be enthralled by the untamed beauty of nature – lush, tropical forest with hot and cold spring, crystal clear and blue mountain lake, sulfuric craters, hidden waterfalls, orchids and other wild flowers. Climbers are encouraged to bring warm clothing as the temperature can go down to 3 degrees Celcius.

Tour includes roundtrip transfers (Davao hotel / Kapatagan / Davao hotel). Overnight hotel accomodation , twi nights ten accommodation to, use of sleeping bag, full-board camp meals, porter and a professional guide.


TAAL VOLCANO TREK
Batangas

Best Time: April to May

Drive upward to Tagaytay. Take a boat to the jump off point to start the ascending trail going to the tip of the crater. Experience a breathtaking view of Taal Volcano and the Lake within the volcano which is known as one of the smallest in the world.

Tour includes roundtrip land and boat transfers, lunch and guide.


MT. PINATUBO TREK WITH OPTIONAL SULFUR BATH
Capas, Tarlac

Best Time: Year-round

An opportunity to relish the peace and quiet of the 2.5-km jewel-blue creater lake of Mt. Pinatubo in Botolan, Zambales via Sta. Juliana, Capas, Tarlac. Drive on board a 4x4 all-weather jeep along O’Donnell streambed, hike up to the crater for an hour and back.

Tour includes overnight homestay accommodation (for overnight tour only), roundtrip transfers (Manila/Tarlac/Manila), 4x4 ride, briefing/conservation fee, mountain guide fee and barangay fee.

Optional activities, include a dip in the hot sulfur spring pools in Tarukan, foot spa, thermal bath, hot sand bath and Shiatsu massage.


MT. KANLAON CLIMB
Negros Occidental (ex-Bacolod)
3 Days/2 Nights
Best Time: February to May

Mt. Kanlaon, towering of 8,000 feet (2,435 meters) above sea eve, is considered as the sacred volcano of Sugarlandia (Negros Occidental), an abode of the gods worshipped by ancient inhabitants. It is one of the country’s favorite destinations for mountaineering, trekking, camping, research and bridwatching. Usual jump-off point is the Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia of the Guintubdon summit trail.

A typical trek takes about 4 to 4 days, giving adventure tourists enough time to see Buslogan and Oro Waterfalls, the Semak Lagoon and the Mangaha Valley. Thorny ferns abound in the area, so tights or sweatpants are advised. At night, temperature may drop to 4 degrees Celsius.

Tour includes roundtrip transfers, camping equipment, and guide.


MT. TIMOLAN NATURE TRAIL
Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur

Best Time: February to May

Rugged river trails, lush forests, exciting rock climbs, majestic sceneries, exotic flora and wild birds… climbing Mt. Timolan gives a new meaning to the expression “ getting there is half the fun”. Upon reaching the top of the mountain, experience the sight of clouds slowly descending upon the lake.

Other activities include bamboo rafting, bamboo pole diving, lake boating, fishing, and river trekking.

Tour includes roundtrip transfers, meals, local guide, climb guide, swimming fee, climb ID, certificate, DENR permit fee.


BATAD TREK
Banaue, Mountain Province

The wonderful village of Batad is about 16km east of Banaue. It is surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful rice terraces shaped like an ampitheatre. It is an impressive sight to see the terraces slowly emerging from the low-lying clouds early in the morning. Nearby is the beautiful Tappia Waterfalls with a natural swimming pool, only an hour’s walk away from Batad.

MT. MAYON CLIMB
Legazpi City, Bicol

Best Time: February to May

The name Mayon is derived from the Bikolano word Magayon, which means beautiful. Mt. Mayon stands 2,462 meters high and is known for its perfectly symmetrical cone. To reach Mayon, you board a jeepney in the market to Bayuhan, from where it is a 2 ½ hour climb to Camp 1 (Camp Amporo) at about 800m. If you start late, you will have to spend the night at the simple hut there; a spring is nearby. It’s another four hours to camp 2 (Camp Pepito) at about 1800m. Here you have to use a tent, as there is no hut and the nights can be fairly cold. In the morning, you have another four-hour climb to the summit. The last 250m is a scramble through loose stones and over steep rocks, and it is advisable for climbers to be roped.
