 COCONUT

The coconut is not a fruit but a nut. And the importance of this nut lies in its versatility: from its medicinal roots and its sturdy trunks; its leaves use for wrapping and cooking food; its heavenly juice and tender meat into everything from fuel to floor-polishing husks and decorative items. The coconut palace is a famous Manila landmark and party venue that's every building material comes from the coconut. 'Coconut cuisine' is one of the delights of Philippine gastronomy and a treat for any gourmet. It includes simple fare such as healthful coconut juice lumpiang ubod (spring roll made from the trunk's pith); and savory dishes.
