About HRAP A non-stock, non-profit organization, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP) is an umbrella organization that speaks for the hospitality industry especially for the Hotel and Restaurant sectors. Created in 1951, HRAP membership includes luxury/deluxe, first class, standard and economy hotels, leading restaurants and fastfood groups, schools and universities offering hotel and restaurant management vocational and 4-year degree courses, as well as allied industry partners. Member establishments are represented by hotel general managers, restaurant owners, university deans and HR chairs and corporate CEOs/COO. Within and outside HRAP are various groupings that relate to focused groups or concerns, such as: · The Association of Human
Resource Managers (AHRM) As a national body, HRAP works closely with the (Hotel Owners Association of the Philippines) and various other regional associations of hotels and restaurants such as: · The Cagayan de Oro Hotels,
Resorts & Restaurants Association (COHARA) MISSION · To undertake programs and projects that will upgrade and professionalize the industry such as, but not limited to the setting up and operation of a Hotel and Tourism Institute of the Philippines; and other professional educational bodies such as CHED, TESDA, TIBFI and PAQTVET. · To promote unity and cooperation among those in the industry and other entities engaged in tourism, in order to protect the interest and welfare of the industry. · To encourage and foster high ethical standards in business resulting in fair and honest competition. · To provide industry representation in matters of government regulatory policies/laws/rules affecting the industry. · To exercise dynamic leadership in promoting goodwill, understanding, fellowship within the hospitality industry both national and international. Students: COMMITTEES Membership: Apart from its membership recruitment drive, this committee continuously drums up activities and projects intended to promote camaraderie, fellowship and closeness among members. Finance: This committee evolves projects to make the association financially viable. The primary function of this committee is to oversee income, expenditures and other negotiable assets of the Association to ensure maximum protection of financial stability. It organizes fund raising schemes for the association. Labor and Human Resource Development: This committee plans and undertakes projects geared toward good labor management relations. It coordinates and liaises with the Department of Labor and Management and with HRTCB. Legislation/Government Liaison: HRAP maintains high level dialogues with national policy-making bodies to promote members' interests. We constantly monitor legislation coming from the Senate and the Congress. HRAP actively resists attempts to impose regulations on the industry whenever these run contrary to hotel and restaurant business interests. Education and Training: The HRAP plans and undertakes projects geared toward vocational training and manpower development along skills required by the hospitality industry in consonance with rules and regulations from CHED, TESDA, TIBFI, PAQTVET and other accredited bodies. Health and Food Safety: This committee helps keep the members informed with respect to new developments and trends regarding health and safety measures being implemented within the industry. In addition, HRAP monitors laws, rules or ordinances that may be passed in relation to health and food safety concerns. Tourism and Marketing: This committee was created primarily to liaise with the Department of Tourism and other related private sector organizations with regards international tourism marketing and promotions. HRAP is a founding member of ASEANTA and the FPTI. Security, Peace & Order: HRAP continues to lobby in favor of greater recognition of the security and safety of the traveling public and demand measures to maximize traveler safety from concerned government agencies. Environment: HRAP has endorsed the IH&RA initiated "environmental action pack" for hotel properties. HRAP has also initiated environmental circles nationwide via its EMMRO (Environmental Management Manual for Restaurant Operators) project. HRAP actively encourage members to be pro-active and lead in environmental programs with their local communities. Research Development/Information Technology: Members are periodically informed of special studies/survey results. Likewise, HRAP conducts seminars, workshops and training programs to ensure the proper implementation/ dissemination of new technology and procedures. |
